Hello Nickel Beer Fans!
We are gearing up for another beautiful weekend in the mountains. And the long range forecast has nothing but sunshine for Memorial Day weekend. There will be some food options at the brewery over the Memorial Day weekend as well. There are some great new beers on tap to tell you about and a very special charity event where you can come help brew a batch of beer. Here are all the details….
Brew a Beer at Nickel
Nickel Beer will be hosting a charity open brew day on Saturday, June 2nd from 9 am to 2 pm. You can be in the brew house and help make the beer from beginning to end. The brewery is partnering up with the Volcan Mountain Foundation for this event. The cost will be $75 which includes lunch and beer during the brew day and a 64 oz growler of the beer when it is finished (you can also do $60 for just the brew day with no growler). 100% of that money will be donated to the Volcan Mountain Foundation. If you are interested in spending the day in a professional brewery to learn about the process to make great beer then please join us! This opportunity is limited to 8 people (and we already have 2 people signed up). To sign up or for more information please contact Tom at tom@nickelbeerco.com or call the brewery at 760-765-2337.
New on Tap
We just released two new beers this week – Chinook IPA and Weekender Wheat. The Chinook IPA is 6.7% IPA brewed 100% with Chinook hops. It is full of juicy, fruity hop flavors and aromas. The Weekender Wheat is our classic German-style Hefeweizen. The unique hefeweizen yeast produces fruity esters of banana and clove during fermentation. This 5.4% brew is a perfect warm weather thirst quencher.
And if you have not been by in a little while we have another new IPA – Beam Me Up Luke. It was released on May the Fourth which is Star Wars Day. This beer was brewed with Amarillo and Ekuanot hops and packs a massive, dank hop punch. We also have our Blood Orange Hessian Session IPA on tap this weekend.
All of the regular favorites are there as well – Volcan IPA, Take A Hike, C.C. O’Neill’s Irish Red, Stonewall Stout and the Jalapeno Gold. We are out of our Apple Pie Ale until the apple harvest starts this summer. But we will have kegs of our Dime Piece cider collaboration with Newtopia Cyder on tap soon.
Our Bruce Banner Grade Double IPA took a bronze medal at the San Diego International Beer Competition last month. This beer is on tap now and we have a fresh batch sitting in the fermenter.
Memorial Day Weekend
The brewery will be open at Noon on Monday the 28th for Memorial Day. We will be open regular hours on Friday (11:30 am to 8:30 pm) and Saturday (11:30 am to 8:30 pm). We will likely stay open a little later than 7:30 pm on Sunday the 27th.
We will have food trucks at the brewery on both Sunday and Monday. Sunday the 27th we will have C.C.’s Cajun Food during the day. And on Monday the 28th look for food from the Candied Apple starting when we open at noon.
Beer Fests
We will be pouring be at two upcoming beer festivals. This weekend we will be at the Crown Craft Beer Invitational at the Imperial Valley Expo in Imperial from 5-10 pm. We’ll be pouring Back Country Gold, Blood Orange Hessian Session IPA and Chinook IPA.
Then in June we will be at the San Diego International Beer Festival on June 15th to 17th at the San Diego County Fair. The festival has 5 sessions each featuring hundreds of beers with unlimited sampling. Special VIP tickets that include beer paired food and larger pour sizes are also available. Not sure what we will be pouring yet, but I will update you as we get closer to the fest. Get all of the details here:
