Volcan Mountain Release Party and Sip of Julian!

Hello Nickel Beer Fans!

Greetings from Julian.  We have some new beers on tap and a new draft account here in town.  Saturday the 30th we host a charity release party to benefit the Volcan Mountain Foundation.  And we will be participating in the annual Sip of Julian at the end of July.  Read on for all o fhte tasty details.
Headwaters Blonde Release Party
This Saturday we will be hosting a special release party for our new beer Headwaters Blonde.  This Kolsch-style beer is made with 100% German Pilsner malt and German hops.  It is light colored, easy to drink and clocks in at 4.5% alcohol – a perfect summer beer.  The name pays homage to the fact that Volcan Mountain serves as a major watershed for San Diego county and the headwaters of several local rivers and creeks are located there.
The release party will be from 5-7 pm at the brewery and there will be snacks served and everyone will get two beers with the paid ticket – there will even be some door prizes given away.  The Foundation is hosting an optional hike before the release party if you want to get outside and enjoy the natural beauty of the Volcan Mountain range.  The cost is $30 and 100% of the money goes to the Volcan Mountain Foundation
In the Tasting Room
We have our World Cup beer on tap right now – Viking Clap.  It was inspired by the clapping celebration of the Icelandic fans.  It is a light red color with a very smooth finish.  It has a light fruity hop character with a hint of strawberries.  You can also find this beer on tap throughout the World Cup at O’Brien’s Pub in San Diego.
If you come up for the 4th of July we will have Devil’s Copper on tap at the American Legion Deep Pit BBQ after the 4th of July Parade.  The parade usually goes from Noon to 1 pm and the Legion will be open to the public with food, beer and live music afterwards.  And Nickel Beer is now on tap full time at the American Legion.
We now have beer on tap at Hero’s restaurant in Julian.  They are starting out with our Devil’s Copper for the first keg but plan to rotate through different selections.  You can also find our beer on tap around Julian at Wynola Pizza and Jeremy’s on the Hill.
Next weekend on July 8th we will be releasing our Blue Door Red Wine Barrel Aged Tripp’s Tripel.  We took our Tripp;s Belgian-Style Tripel and aged in a Petite Sirah Red Wine barrel from our friends at Blue Door Winery who have a tasting room in Downtown Julian.  The winery only makes red wines and the flavor from the barrel aging adds a nice grape and tannic flavor and aroma to this beer.  I can tell you that for anyone who already likes the Tripp’s Tripel, you are going to love this barrel aged version.
Sip of Julian
We will be participating in the annual Sip of Julian on Saturday, July 28th.  This event is a self guided tour through the tasting rooms of Julian.  Julian has incredibly diverse tasting rooms that include beer, mead, cider and grape wine.  There are 9 tasting rooms along the Sip trail including Volcan Mountain Winery, Julian Ciderworks, Gold Coast Mead, Menghini Winery, Blue Door Winery and of course Nickel Beer.  Tickets are $25 the proceeds benefit the Julian Country Christmas and Tree Lighting.
You can get ticket info here: http://www.visitjulian.com/to-see-do/special-events/sip-of-julian/.

There is an option to get on the shuttle service that will be running during the event. The event will run from 11 to 5 pm with check in at Town Hall starting at 10 am on July 28th.  Make a complete weekend of it and stay up in Julian!
That is your good beer news from Julian.  We’ll see you soon for a tasty Nickel Beer.  Cheers, Tom
